Of course, the major argument is that they had no way of knowing the terrorists' intentions with the plane- still it somehow makes the event seem even more tragic...and that it could have been avoidable.
There definitely needs to be a major improvement in cockpit security. It's amazing how long hijackings have been going on, yet little has been done to keep terrorist from obtaining access to the cockpit.
