It all depends on what you are used to and your degree of experience, not to mention how tall you are. I have recently traded my DM 10 footer for a DM 12 footer with no regrets. To a beginner I would say learn with a shorter whip. But if that whip stays under $550, then it's a "steal". Just my $.02. Cheers

: Not that much you can do with a 12 unless you already have a 10 and 8 ft. Too long for a first whip and too long to learn with. IMHO...
