Two leathers?

Just ordered another Wested and when I said I wanted the New Cowhide, they asked me which one. Has there always been two. They asked if I wanted the Lamp-type or the thicker cow. I ordered one last year and didn't specify. I LOVE the leather of the one I got before and wanna makse sure it's the same. Anyone know anything about this?
