Lucas Empire Merging

Lucas is consolidating all of his companies into one. I've always wondered why they were separate. Movies, games, effects work, all under one umbrella. I wonder if it's just some organizational, legal arrangement or there will actually be some crossover benefits. I can see using ILM to create some sweet video game scenes.
