I am pretty sure I have seen a version with at least the scene where Short Round burns a thuggee, and probably the other scene you mentioned. It was a long time ago and I havn't seen ToD in a long time, but I specificaly remember Short Round burning a thuggee and realizing that it had awaken him from the trance, so when he sees Indy later he grabs a tourch and uses it to wake Indy.

I didn't know that there were video tapes without that scene in it, any chance you were watching one that was recorded off TV or something? I don't know, I just know I have seen that scene you described, and not having seen the film in years didn't know that there was a differently cut version of Temple of Doom.
