Does anyone else notice this but me? Where did all the original people who posted to this board at the begining run off to? I know i haven't been around much lately, but come on Micah, the old format was way much better. I mean, it looks really nice and all, and don't get me wrong, you did a great job, and credit should be given for great work. but the original forum design was undoubtedly the best.
I think one reason may be with all those stupid posts that were starting to surface, from wierd people, but come on, is it really that bad? I would think so myself personally, because that's a major reason why I stopped posting.
But none the less Micah, you've done a great job with keeping and making the forum work. Then I guess I'll catch everyone later then.

Ok, Glen.

I perceived that the old Forum was a mess. It had confusing thread organization, which made the page quickly grow too big to download.

So, what's the word? Was the old board operation better?

Have I frustrated everyone with the growing pains of the new design, chasing them off?

Hi guys,

<>

I'm still here.

I have to agree with Glen on this. There are so many strange posts taking over. I generally don't read them and just skip them over. For I while I thought of leaving the forum too. But Micah you do a great job and don't receive enough credit for what you're doing.

<>

I'll agree that it was confusing, but at least we had the forum. It was something new to play with and experience. What needs to be done is put a limit on how long old posts can stay on the forum. After a month, start deleting.

<>

I find that I like both. I just don't want the forum to go away. Though, I would like to see less pictures in responses. I don't mean to offend but please, put them somewhere else. Oh, and you know what would be nice, a spell checker! I'm tired of trying to figure out what people are trying to say - this was one reason why I almost left the forum.

<>

No Micah. I think many of the forum people are in college and school is just catching up with them. Also, if I recall correctly, one or two of the originals are traveling. So, whatever you choose, the new or the old, I'll go with it. Both had/have their strong and weak points. I guess it's now up to the others.

I asked this question when this forum changed (see "Welcome" responses at the very beginning), but saw no responses to my response, therefore have to believe that there are either 1, fewer looking, or 2, just watching and waiting to see how this evolves. I am a staff supervisor at a University myself, and only have so much time to look at your forum during breaks. With the old forum, I could rapidly scan what had been added, then move on. This new setup is much cleaner, but as I stated, your spontaneous responses between the people have all but disappeared. Let's face it, though. You will never be all things to all people. If you stay with this format, I will learn to change my scanning rate, and live and do well. I would suggest that if you seriously want to have a real poll of how people think, give it a day or two before deciding. Most of us don't see your postings from one day until the next. I didn't see your question regarding opinions until today, after you closed the poll. I DID read yesterday's entries, and this wasn't on the forum yesterday evening when I left. Remember that apparently you have a global audience out here. Give us time to respond. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to do this work. I'm in my 40's now, but remember when I had the burning interest back in my late twenties and watched Raiders for the first time in 1981 in a dark theater, then began collecting everything that even hinted of Indiana Jones. My interest has never left me. I have worn out 3 fedora's, working on my 4th. I still wear my original leather jacket I purchased in 82, and constantly find it amusing that when the new movies come, have been teased about trying to dress like Indy, and when the time between the movies occured, no one even noticed me. Then it started all over again with the release of the next movie. Your work has given me information concerning the worth of my collection, which, according to your pages, has gone through the roof in terms of cost (to my long suffering wifes delight, as well as clearing my name of being out of my mind buying IJ stuff instead of food years ago!) Micah, there's a lot of us "older" folks who have lived with Indy, not just had a deep interest out here. We don't say much, we just watch and absorb the younger folks discovery of Indiana Jones, and it pleases us to see that the passion we had still lives.

Now that I've rambled on for so long, I just want to close by saying your forum is about as good as it gets. Just feel the water of opinion, then do what you feel it right. We'll be here watching. Regards

Whoa! The poll is ongoing. I gave everybody a week.

So far it's just about an even split, leaning toward the old way. I'm already concocting a compromise, hopefully to the liking of most.

Sorry for the confusion. I read your entry reply under the heading "Fate of the Forum" first. It appeared upon first reading that you had already made up your mind regarding the direction you were going. Regards.
