in a couple of the issues of The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones comic book series from marvel, there is a continuation of the idol story. Indy and Sallah end up getting it out of Merrikash and back to New York and Marcus Brody throws a huge party/reception for the museum and the idol. That's about all I remember except it also has something to do with a lone Hovitos warrior coming after it and maybe even possibly Toht's daughter. It's been a long time since I've read those comics.
