Chapter 16
Indy grabbed his whip, gun, and firmly put on his hat. He just pulled on his jacket when Michael and Shorty came in.
“Where’s the fire, Dad?” Michael asked.
“No time to explain. Just come on!” Indy said.
They piled into the rented car they had gotten, with Shorty at the wheel, “Where to, Doctor Jones?”
“Go straight out into the country, by Stonehenge,” Indy said.
Eric and Michael looked at each other and then looked at Indy, “Dad,” Eric asked, “Where are we going?”
“To pay a visit,” Indy replied, “With a friend of mine.”

Lauren and Anthony looked over the material as Anthony said,
“This is impossible, Lauren. Do you actually believe Excalibur exists?”
“Our lives are at stake,” Lauren replied, “It’s existence is vital,” as she reread the material.
“But the sword is claimed to be buried with King Arthur. And we don’t know where he is buried.”
“It says right here,” pointing to the page, “His body with Excalibur was buried to sea.”
“You mean into the Atlantic? That’s thousands and thousands miles of the ocean! We’d be better off finding Titanic!”
Lauren smiled and said, “There’s another body of water where the sword can be.”
Anthony’s eyes widened and said, “You don’t mean the Lady of the Lake?”
“That’s exactly where I believe Arthur’s body is kept as well as Excalibur,” she said, “But first we have to get out of here,” looking out for a way to escape.
Chapter 17
The Joneses and Short Round approached a medieval castle on the outskirts of Stonehenge. Indy pulled on the rope to ring the bell as Eric asked,
“Dad, who lives here?”
The butler opened the door before Indy could reply, “May I help you?” the butler asked.
“I would like to see Thomas Raleigh,” Indy commanded, “It’s a matter of life and death.”
The butler ushered them in as Michael said, “Tom Raleigh? The professor from Barnett?”
“His parents are Lord and Lady Raleigh,” Indy replied, “He is the only heir to Raleigh estate.”
“Does Lauren know?” Eric asked.
“No,” Indy said, “And you’re not going to tell her. Tom made me promise not to say anything to her until he was ready to tell her.”
Tom showed up a moment later, “Dr. Jones!” looking pleased, “And Eric and Michael. What brings you to England?”
“It’s complicated,” Indy said, “This is my friend Mr. Round.”
“Short Round,” Shorty said defiantly.
“What’s going on?” as he looked from Indy to Shorty, “And where’s Lauren?”
“She’s exactly why we’re here,” Eric said, “She’s been kidnapped off the London streets with Anthony Brody.”
“Brody?” Tom said in surprise, “Isn’t he related to your old friend, Marcus?”
“He’s his great-uncle,” Indy said, “Now Tom the reason we’re here…”
“Is to know about Excalibur!” Michael exclaimed, getting the hint.
“Excalibur?” Tom said, “But Dr. Jones, you’re a forthmost archeologist. You should know everything about Excalibur.”
“Exactly,” smiling at Tom, “And we know that the legendary Lady of the Lake is on your grounds.”

Lauren and Anthony looked around for a way out. “Lauren, it’s pointless,” he said, “They're brick walls. We need a jackhammer or something to get out.”
Lauren had an idea and banged on the door, “Help! Please!”
“Quiet in there,” the guard yelled.
“Please, sir. There’s a huge rat in here,” doing her best shrilling voice, “And it bit Mr. Brody in here. It might be poisonous.”
The guard sighed as Lauren stood at the side of the door and mouthed to Anthony, “Pretend you’re dying of agony.”
Anthony listened and held onto his leg as the guard came in, “Now what seems to be the trouble…”
Lauren kicked the guard unto the ground. The guard turned around to charge at her and she kicked him. The guard went flying into the wall and slumped unconscious.
“Nice work,” Anthony said as Lauren went to retrieve the guard’s gun and keys.
“Thanks,” smiling, “Now let’s go,” as she peered out into the hallway.
“Wait a minute,” Anthony said as he switched clothes with the guard, “We won’t get passed the other guards by just walking out of here.”
“Good thinking,” as Anthony changed and then held onto Lauren’s arm, “We’re going to have to pretend that I’m taking you to Joey.”
Lauren nodded as they walked down the corridor. They then heard Joey’s voice, “Bring me the girl! Now!”
Anthony and Lauren frantically looked for a way out as they heard, “Come here. Inside quickly.”
They followed the voice and saw an old man, “This way. I will get you out,” as he opened a door.
Reluctantly, they followed the man into the room. He pointed to the doorway at the end; “It leads outside.”
“But who are…” Lauren started to ask.
“Please no questions. Go!” the man said.
“Come on, Lauren,” Anthony said as they went through the door. As soon as they were in, the doorway and the man disappeared.
