I can't get my Fate of Atlantis to talk

I have Windows 98 and have downloaded all the LucasArts patches and configured my sound correctly -- but whenever I load the game with voices on I get an error message when Indy's about to talk. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is it peculiar to my computer?
