What's the recent interest in Wells Lamont 1123/1150 gloves?

I'm just curious because I've worn 1123's for years, but lately had to start buying 1150's (couldn't find 1123's). While very comfortable and durable gloves, they are very modern-looking ("GRIPS" stamped into the right index finger, and, the 1150's have a very prominent reverse-leather palm pad).

Were these gloves featured in one of the films, or what?
