: I'm just curious because I've worn 1123's for years, but lately had to start buying 1150's (couldn't find 1123's). While very comfortable and durable gloves, they are very modern-looking ("GRIPS" stamped into the right index finger, and, the 1150's have a very prominent reverse-leather palm pad).
: Were these gloves featured in one of the films, or what?
The story goes that the Raiders gloves are of undetermined origin. They supposedly were a pair that were borrowed from a grip on the set of the "Well of Souls" and then used for the remainer of the movie. Now a fan MANY years ago found out that Paramount had a contract with Midwest glove company for their gloves at about the same time that Raiders was in process, and the assumption was that the Midwest was the glove that was used. On the other hand (sorry, unintentional pun) Wells Lamont had the same type contact at the same time, and WL has been a main stay in the film/video production industry for longer than I can remember, and I've been in the industrial video field myself for 25 years. I have worn out dozens of pairs of Wells Lamont gloves in the process of my work. Bottom line, the Wells Lamont is just as good a candidate as the "official" Indy glove as the Midwest, simply by virtue that they were both on site at the same time. This article, like the guns, remains an enigma simply because no one in the official areas remember where the gloves actually came from, hence the interest. Regards. Michaelson
