Two points: 1)Indy pulled the sand bag from his servents back pack, so he only had it for a few minutes in his bag. 2)I recreated the temple sequence for a fun video short for a trade show. That sand bag full was a bear to get in the gas mask bag. I think the inner compartments were removed by the wardrobe people for ease of use. Fun question by the way.
