Goatskin Thickness Irregularities?

I remember hearing that your goatskin was "special", in that it was thinner than FS' usual stock. But then I heard that the information was wrong, and that FS' normal stock IS what you got, and that the thicker goatskin was a rarity.

Yet why have some recent FS goatskin owners commented on its blatant thickness? If your goatskin is the same thickness as my lambskin then I can't understand why someone would say it's too thick.

Have some fans been given the wrong goatskin? Or is the thick stuff the "norm"?
