...here's the thing. Lucas has said many times that he wouldn't have made the new trilogy if it didn't change one's perspective of the original three. Likewise the new Indy is going to be set twenty years past the originals. How can the character not be different. I applaud Lucas for trying something different. The idea that "midichlorians just isn't Star Wars" is to me just not so. Of course it is. Star Wars belongs to Lucas. We're just here for the ride. Lucas is going places some people don't want to go. Oh well. That doesn't mean that it's not Star Wars. Of course the viewer can reject it as such. I just don't see where Lucas has really deviated from past set precedence. When I saw the movie yesterday, I felt like I got my Star Wars movie. Cheers
: : You make some good points, but what I'm really getting out of your post is that Lucas should not have attempted to make the SW prequels or attempt another Indy because it runs the chance of interfering with each individual's conception of the Indy or SW universe.
: I was probably too vague here, then. What I am suggesting is that both Lucas and Spielberg should have a little more respect for their work from 20 years ago, and not intentionally set about to alter the dynamics of those films, simply because they've changed their minds now.
